NOISE

This world is loud.

There are so many noises.

Physical noise

Emotional noise

Spiritual noise...

My stomach yells at me when i am hungry. My guts screech at me if i eat wrong.

My mind shouts bleh!!!! When it has too much input from news and media.

This media-saturated, distracted life is noisy.

300 hours of video are uploaded to youtube every minute.

487 original television shows were aired in 2017.

There have been over a million movies produced.

According to Gracenote, 79,000,000 songs have been produced from 1866-2011. To put this vast number in perspective, that is one a minute. It would take 150 years of continuous playing to make it through that playlist.

And don't even get me started on the facebook, twitter, instagram, social media noise!!!

That is a lot of noise which leads to emotional noise.

All these depression/anxiety labels out there these days. The infamous they who know everything say half of Americans will face mental illness in their lifetimes. Hmmm... Could it have anything to do with this continuous barrage of NOISE???

The irony is, the one true God is NOT noisy. He revealed Himself to the prophet Elijah in 1 Kings 19:11-12. He was not in the strong wind that could reduce mountains to dust, the upheaval of the earthquake, or the fire with its roaring violence. The Lord was in the still small voice.

Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations,

Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted in the earth!

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear,

Even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.

Psalm 46:10,11,1,2

So here is the therapy plan I suggest. Throw your dumb stupidphone in a drawer now and again on silent. Live without it shouting at you 947 times an hour. Seek the Lord with your whole heart. Live! Stay the boss of it, don't let this modern day idol be the boss of you.
