"Wobbly Washing Machines"
Happy Friday everybody! MPK unleashed a new thingie today!!! Q&A with MPK . Enjoy!
I didn’t share a poem today so I will just blog the interesting adventure that was this morning:
Right out of the gate this a.m. after a very fruitful time sitting at Jesus’ feet and eating from His Word, the Bible (the healthiest health food there is), I had a neato Jesus wisdom encounter stuffed in a BIG, FAT, IRRITATING MESS!!
♫♫♫GIVE ME SALT ON MY FRITO GOD IS NEATO NEATO NEATO Give me salt on my Frito I PRAY!!!♫♫♫
So, this morning, I went into the basement to bring up food to make super vegetable soup to break my fast. Instead of getting the soup ingredients, I found my lovely washing machine…
Almost tipped into my sump pump!!!
My washing machine has a chronic problem of having one foot not the same length, so there was this occasional wobble. Several times I have found the washing machine moved from its position due to wobbling on the spin cycle, but this was the worst I've ever seen it. My fix for the occasional wobble was to take one of those little plastic dental flosses and shove it under one of the feet on my washing machine as a sort of shim. Usually that took care of the problem. Unfortunately, the wobble spit the little dental floss out of its place and
Transformed into a full-on grand mal seizure!
This time all of the things on top of my washer tipped into my sump pump leaving me really irritated, resentful, and annoyed! My usual prayer response is, '“Hallelujah! Thank you Jesus that all things work together for good, but for some reason, I was extra irritated this morning. I had more of a “Really Lord???” response. I valiantly tried to move my washer out of the sump pump and back in its place, but those little washing machine feet stuck tight and made it impossible to get it back into its home by myself, which caused me to be even more irritated! I didn't sin with my lips, but my heart was irritable. I knew I didn't want to be like this, so I asked the Lord to cleanse my heart of this irritation. I wanted nothing to do with it! I knew His word says in James 1:2-3, “My Brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” I repented, turned from my rotten response, and He left a nugget of wisdom for my trouble! I trusted that He could use even a washing machine in the sump pump to teach me His ways. One of the things that fell into the sump pump was my homemade laundry booster I keep in this old ice cream bucket on top of my washer with NO LID... I keep it filled with a mixture of super washing soda, borax and OxiClean plus these little smelly Bounce pellets. I mix it all together and put a scoop or 2 in each load. Well, my bucket fell off the top of my washer as it danced its way right into the sump pump. I lost about half of it and my little spoons... I've got these little measuring spoons I use to scoop into my washer. I was so irritated to hopelessly lose them to the bottom of my sump pump, but God was gracious! As I scooped a bunch of the powder back into the bucket, I noticed one of my little scoopers (truly a floating ax head moment, Elisha) and was able to fetch one floating on the top of the nasty, moldy, hairy, stinky, slime water in the sump pump. I said, “devil, you can't scare me!!!” I reached my hand through the spider-webbed darkness and rescued my little spoon! I called to my son, Judah, who rescued me and helped me push the washing machine back into place. He deserves theme music for his superhero status! Then with his engineering genius, he suggested a different washing machine foot to be shimmed, this time with a wider sturdier substance, and healed the wobble! As I pondered the events and tragedy of my washing machine wobble, the Lord showed me many applications to the Christian life. But here is the biggest takeaway:
We get so busy in ministry! Around and around we spin and can develop a little sin wobble that sneaks in. Comforting with food, perhaps? If you do not shim that bad foot, you are in danger of falling into the pit!
A little wobble can make a big mess!!! Run to Jesus! Repent of the junk that throws you off track and be healed! Then you will be able to accomplish His Work through Him, for Him, to Him!
Ephesians 2:8-10 (NKJV)
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
